Australia tour 2010
Preview

Leicester Tigers go in search of their second southern hemisphere scalp in as many seasons when they take on Australia's dirt-trackers at Welford Road on Tuesday.

The Tigers will offer up a small piece of their storied history for the game by donning lettered shirts, to be auctioned for charity after the game, and their fans will be anticipating a night every bit as exciting as last season's win over South Africa.

The Wallabies defeated Leicester last weekend and have named a young, exciting side but their scrum woes in Cardiff look set to continue against a grizzled Tigers pack. Last season they emerged from tour games against Gloucester and Cardiff with a 100% record and a couple of future Test stars in Quade Cooper and Kurtley Beale and Robbie Deans will be hoping for more of the same.

Leicester - Player to Watch: Manu Tuilagi is the latest product of the famous family and boasts all of the pace and power associated with his brother Alesana. Starts on the wing and is looking for a second international scalp despite his tender years, having started at inside-centre against the Springboks 12 months ago.

Leicester - Team News: Geordan Murphy skippers the Tigers from fullback while Thomas Waldrom shifts from No.8 to blindside in order to accommodate Jordan Crane at No.8. Peter Bucknall, George Chuter and Julian White wear the famous ABC in the front-row.

Australia - Player to Watch: Popular Queensland veteran Van Humphries starts in the second-row as he continues his pursuit of a Test cap. A big showing from the 34-year-old could influence selection for Saturday's Test against England given the physical onslaught set to face the Wallabies at Twickenham.

Australia - Team News: Fly-half Berrick Barnes captains the side. The Waratahs playmaker is joined by another Test cap in Luke Burgess at halfback, while youngster Nick Phipps gets a chance on the bench. James Slipper, Huia Edmonds and Salesi Ma'afu will be up against it against a hard-scrummaging Leicester pack.

Key Battle: Their scrum almost cost the Test side dear last weekend and Julian White in particular will fancy his chances against an Australian front-row that is still wet behind the ears.

Trivia: The Wallabies cruised through their tour fixtures last season but came unstuck back in 2006 when the Ospreys celebrated becoming the first Welsh region to play a touring side with a 24-16 victory. Tigers' replacement scrum-half Jason Spice started for the Ospreys.

Stats: Leicester's 37-year-old tight-head Julian White has more Test caps (55) than the entire Australian pack (54) combined.

Quote Unquote:

"For everybody who wears the jersey, it is not their jersey, they just get to wear it for a short period of time. It is nice to see the letters on the shirts again and we all hope that everybody wearing it does it justice." - Leicester boss Richard Cockerill is hoping for a big showing.

"These matches are a critical, to be honest. It provides rugby for the whole group which is invaluable and keeps the entire squad connected. What it offers us is access for everyone. Without it we go from Test to Test which doesn't permit us to provide an opportunity for the next tier of player." - Australia coach Robbie Deans.

Prediction: If the Wallabies' young guns click then it could be an entertaining evening, but the Tigers pack is primed to ensure that their visitors struggle to generate any possession. Another big night is in store for the Welford Road faithful.
