From Elias: Simon Gagne, Steven Stamkos and Pavel Kubina each scored two goals for the Lightning to help them avoid elimination with an 8-2 win in Game 5 of their series against the Penguins on Saturday. It was the first time in franchise history that Tampa Bay had three different multiple-goal scorers in one playoff game and only the second time in the last ten years that any NHL team had three multi-goal men in the same postseason game. The other instance was by the Red Wings in the 8-2 win that completed their four-game second-round sweep of Colorado in 2008. Johan Franzen scored three goals for Detroit in that game, and Mikael Samuelsson and Henrik Zetterberg each contributed two goals to the Red Wings' victory.

From Elias: Nathan Horton's goal at 9:03 of the second overtime period gave the Bruins a 2-1 Game 5 win over the Canadiens in Boston and a three-games-to-two lead in the series. The Bruins won a double-overtime game at TD Garden against the Sabres in last year's playoffs, but before that Boston had not won a multiple-OT game on home ice since 1939 versus the Rangers. They had four postseason losses in multiple-overtime home games in the interim.
From Elias: Tyler Ennis scored the game's first goal, then scored in overtime as the Sabres recovered after blowing a 3-0 lead to capture Game Five in Philadelphia. Only two other rookies in NHL history have scored the first goal of a playoff game and then scored the game-winner in overtime. Greg Meredith did that for Calgary at Vancouver in 1983, and Andy Delmore did it for the Flyers at Pittsburgh in 2000.
